Borelias Festival of Light was held on October 11 - 14 in Seattle for the first time in its history. During four days the most accomplished 3D mapping and visual studios in the world came together in Seattle to show off their best work. Sila Sveta debuted poetic projection mapping on the Museum of History and Industry.

The piece is a 3 minutes long experimental, audio-visual artwork, 3D projection mapped over the entirety of the museum’s facade. It envisions the museum undergoing a cosmic eruption. The historic building appears at first to explode, and then to implode on itself, as if a black hole had emerged from the core of its interior. A metaphysical and evocative moment then unfolds at the climax. To enhance the effect the authors of the idea Alexander Us and Yuri Kolokolnikov turned to Brodsky's poem called "Loneliness". The whole process is accompanied by Brodsky’s poetry.
The moment of the eruption is extended to 3 minutes in slow motion. According to the idea of the Art Director of the project Ilya Balakin, the explosion alternates with "flashbacks" – the small plots that intersect with the text of the poem read by Yuri Kolokolnikov. These flashbacks are inscribed in the collapsing geometry of the building, which is under unique phase of destruction every second.
Simulation of the main destruction of the building was done in Houdini. It's duration is approximately 4,000 shots.
CG supervisor Oleg Barankin wrote the code on VEX to create the effect of a black hole pulling in the pieces of the ruined building. Oleg also wrote the code for the partial whirlpool, that remains after the main geometry of the building is destroyed and pulled into a hole.
To get the most out of the explosion of this "poetic bomb" and demostrate everything that is impossible to see in real time explosion, we have decided to extend in time the following:
1. How the primary blast wave rolls over the building, causing distortion of the geometry;
2. How the windows are knocked out;
3. How strong electromagnetic pulse bursts the lamps, the wiring sparks and the whole office equipment explodes.
